The
National Performing Roller Assn. Will host an annual one loft fly that will be held in the fall sometime in
October. This will be potentially ideal for weather and should miss most
raptor migration periods to reduce the risk of loss.
All birds will be given equal opportunity to perform to the best of its
abilities.
The
person at whose loft the training and judging take place will be referred to as
the handler and is not eligible to participate in the fly or to judge the fly.
The handler is responsible for the care and training of the birds.
The handler must treat all birds equally without prejudice.
The handler may split or combine kits at his or her discretion based on
maturity and development of the birds as long as all birds continue to be
trained and flown.
The handler may administer medication for the treatment or
prevention of disease, parasites, etc. at his or her discretion.
If, at any time during training, a bird is deemed a detriment to the rest
of the kit, the handler has the discretion to remove such bird or birds from the
kit.
The handler is in no way responsible for loss of birds for any reason
including but not limited to predator attacks, disease, overflies, rolldowns,
etc.
Entry Fees: Entry fee will be $50.00 per bird with a 2 (two) bird limit per breeder per kit.
I
Entry Deadlines:
Entries for the October date must be mailed with payment and
band numbers of the birds entered no later than May 1st.
Birds entered must be shipped and received at the handlers loft between
May 7th and May 21st.
Birds will not be accepted later than May 21st.
The owner is responsible for the box & shipping charge to the
handler’s loft.
III
Birds:
There will be a limit of 20 birds per kit.
Birds flown in the October fly must be banded with the same year band.
For example, if the fly date is October 2008, all birds must be banded
2008.
Unbanded birds will not be accepted.
It is preferred that birds are between 6 and 10 weeks old when they are
shipped so as to ease the training process, but that is up to the owner of the
birds.
IV
Participants:
Entries will only be accepted from paid NPRA members in good standing.
The judge will be picked and determined by the NPRA Board of Directors,
the handler, or a combination of the two.
The judge need not be a current member of the NPRA, but will be given a
one-year membership as a good will gesture for his or her time.
V.
Prizes:
Awards will be based on the number of entries in the fly.
There will be three placings for each date.
First place bird (Champion) will receive 40% of the total entry monies
collected.
The second place bird will receive 20% of the entry monies, and the third
place bird will receive 10%.
The remaining 30% of entry monies will be set aside for the handler to
cover his or her expenses including feed, medication, etc..
As an example, if 20 birds are entered in the October fly at $50.00 per
bird the total entries would be $1,000.00.
$400.00 would go to first place, $200.00 to second, and $100.00 to third.
The remaining $300.00 would go to the handler.
VI. Auction of Kit Birds: Upon the completion of fly date, ALL birds flown must go up for auction on the NPRA website. This auction shall take place on the NPRA website and pictures posted of each bird being auctioned along with any judge’s comments, if any. High bidder is responsible for box & shipping charges for any birds bought. Proceeds from this auction will be equally divided 50% to the NPRA for expenses, etc. and 50% to the owner.
VII.
Buy-Back
Birds:
The owner of any bird entered may buy back their bird rather than
have it auctioned off after the fly date.
If owner wishes to buy back his or her bird, the cost will be $25.00 per
bird.
Owner must make his or her wishes known for buying back their birds no
later than September 1st and payment must be sent in with said
intentions along with band number(s) of bird or birds.
Owner is responsible for box & shipping charges when buying back
their bird(s).
Buy back proceeds will be placed with auction proceeds and divided the
same as auction monies.
VIII.
Substitutions:
If,
for any reason, a bird is lost due to predator, overfly, etc. the owner is
allowed one replacement at no additional entry fee.
Rolldowns will NOT be eligible for substitutions.
Only one substitution per original entry will be allowed and these
substitution birds must be shipped and received at the handler’s loft no later
than July 1st.
Shipping to be paid by owner and must be arranged with handler.
IX.
Liability:
Under NO circumstances will either the handler or the NPRA be responsible
for lost birds due to disease, theft, death, predator attack, overfly, or any
other reason.
